The golden spice turmeric has long been recognized in Asian medicine for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, making it a great natural option to ease swelling and provide relief to an itchy, sore throat. When consumed as a tea, ginger can help stop a runny nose and can even help cure a headache and fever associated with the common cold. Factor in the Vitamin C and energy boost from the citrus and you have one powerful little tea on your hands. Your immune system will thank you for it.
Turmeric Ginger Tea
2 cups of spring water
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder or 1 Inch fresh root minced
1 inch of fresh ginger root minced
1 ripe orange
2 teaspoons honey
In a small sauce pan add water, ginger, and turmeric. Simmer over medium-low heat.
Add the juice of 1 orange and half of a lemon.
Stir in honey until desired sweetness is reached.
Optional: Spoon out minced ginger
Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy hot!
