Vegetable Spiralizer – The kitchen gadget you NEED!!

vegetable spiralizer

Allow me tell you how a vegetable spiralizer has forever transformed my pasta game.  For me, there’s nothing more comforting than slurping down a big plate of saucy noodles, however 10 minutes later there’s nothing more uncomfortable than knowing I probably just consumed over 600 calories of refined carbs. Since adopting a healthier lifestyle, I’ve tried and failed at many alternative pastas. Quinoa, brown rice, and even corn pasta all seem to fall into the same category for me: mushy and hard to cook.  That was until I purchased my first vegetable spiralizer and instantly fell in love!  A spiralizer can turn your favorite vegetables into brightly colored ribbons of healthy,gluten-free “noodles” that can be enjoyed sautéed, boiled, or even my personal favorite, raw! read more

Confession: Cream of tomato soup is my one true love.

I could eat it for every meal, with or without a sandwich or salad on the side. I LOVE the texture, the taste, the way the tart tomato flavor hits the back of my tongue before the warm soup travels down my throat.

Too graphic? My bad.

But I really do love it, even on my sickest of days, it is what I crave, which is a big no-no because it contains dairy (and you don’t need dairy when you’re sick!).

Valentine’s Week in the 614

For an accused Hallmark holiday Valentine’s day sure does have an effect on people. For those who are happily coupled it can signify an excuse for a romantic night out (or in, ala netflix and chill, my personal favorite), and even a little stress and frustration making sure the holiday goes smoothly. For those not in a relationship the holiday can sometimes lead to a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and some serious self pity.

The good news is feeling down isn’t in your cards this year. There are too many fun events happening throughout the week in Columbus and we challenge you to partake in as many as possible!

Plant Based Loaded Tater Chips

nacho 2

When it comes to eating healthier, you should never deprive yourself of the things you love to eat. The real solution is to find “healthier” ways to enjoy your favorite foods by making substitutions. These chips are the perfect example of doing just that.

In this recipe we provide you with three ways to make substitutions to the most delicious components of loaded nachos, chips or fries. We provide you with a completely plant-based, dairy free way to make a healthy “cheese sauce”, a vegan, low fat “meaty” chili recipe, and also a recipe for baked sweet potato chips, which could just as easily be fries instead! Let’s be real, the toppings of this dish are what you are going to swoon over, don’t be shy to load them in a taco or serve them over rice.
